About Therapy

2083757485If you’re here on this page…

You may be feeling disconnected, burdened by shame, or stuck in cycles of self-doubt and perfectionism.

And if you are, I imagine you’re also…

… feeling disconnected and worn down by past pain, unresolved regrets, and the pressure to perform and provide.

… struggling with motivation and confidence, feeling anxious, lost, and uncertain about how to reclaim a sense of direction.

… wanting healthier relationships but feeling overwhelmed by how to make them a reality… or feeling stuck in the “nice guy/girl” role where it’s hard to express your needs and boundaries.

… being held back by self-doubt, which means you’re censoring yourself, struggling with self-sabotaging thoughts, or feeling fearful of showing up as your true self.

Let’s talk…

If you feel out of alignment or burdened by the pressure to “get it right” in all areas of life, you’ve come to the right place.

Most of my clients come to me frustrated because they’re longing for more and are ready for a change but don’t know where to begin. That’s where I come in.

I’m here to guide you as you summon the clarity, courage, and self-compassion needed to create lasting change.

2334548211My approach centers on this key principle…

“As within, so without…”

Inspired by Jungian psychology and Somatic healing, I believe that our internal world of thoughts, unconscious beliefs, and unresolved experiences shape how we experience our world.

My goal is to help you bring these patterns into awareness so you can consciously create a life that reflects your true self, free from the limiting shadows of the past.

Only by knowing what’s holding you back will you be empowered to move forward with purpose and authenticity.

Let’s confront, transform, and overcome your inner obstacles!

To do that, we must know where your current perceptions and experiences stem from.

Through a collaborative, creative approach using a blend of reflective exercises, mindfulness practices, and actionable tools, I’ll help you integrate new insights into your daily life.

My approach is active, engaging, and grounded in practical change.

Sessions are designed to go beyond traditional talk therapy, including techniques like journaling, visualization, and expressive exercises that allow you to examine and reshape the internal stories that no longer serve you.

This process is tailored to bring clarity, motivation, and self-assurance to your life, helping you break free from patterns and feel genuinely empowered.

It’s time to begin your journey!

I work virtually, creating an accessible space where you can engage fully in the therapeutic process without disrupting your daily routine.

This setting helps integrate what we work on directly into your life, reinforcing the changes we cultivate.

A more authentic, meaningful life is waiting for you!

Hi, I’m Mikey Brackett, LPC, NCC, RYT

AdminMy road to becoming a therapist…

Growing up as the son of a perfectionistic, alcoholic father in the overtly Christian South, I was unaware of therapy or the possibilities within the world of healing. The weight of my trauma and pain felt immense, and I didn’t see any answers for the grief and disconnection I carried.

Even as I struggled, I had an unshakable sense that the life I was living (and the one I was told I should live) was not the life I was meant for. I knew there was more to me, and I knew life had more to offer. I just needed to heal to experience it fully.

Actively seeking answers for my pain, I found a way forward – one that felt aligned, purposeful, and authentic…

This exploration led me into the field of psychology and, ultimately, to becoming a therapist.

Some of my professional background…

My professional journey began at Belmont University in Nashville, where I interned at Vanderbilt Hospital as a chaplain and counseling intern in the cancer ward. This role brought me face-to-face with patients in acute care, both terminal and recovering.

That work showed me the profound realities of suffering, love, grief, and resilience. I was confronted with life’s most fundamental questions, which challenged me to understand what truly helps people in their darkest moments. Simplistic answers and quick fixes were inadequate, but being present and offering genuine empathy and support seemed to create a significant positive impact.

This transformative experience led me to pursue a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling and earn my national license as a psychotherapist.

I still reflect on the question that’s guided me throughout my career: “What genuinely helps people heal and thrive?”

When I’m not doing therapy…

Above all, my marriage is the most significant aspect of my life. I have truly found the woman of my dreams, and I attribute the beauty and ease of our relationship to the profound personal growth we have both undertaken through therapy. We split our time between Denver, Colorado, and the mountains of Western North Carolina, raising our three spaniel puppies while caring for each other and the world around us.

Outside of my marriage, I enjoy building guitars. I started my guitar company around the same time I began my therapy practice, building numerous guitars for myself and others. Recently, I’ve been exploring the possibility of becoming a high-level producer and recording engineer. One of my proudest accomplishments was building my first all-handmade guitar amplifier!

I’m also very active in the yoga community. I maintain a consistent practice and contribute to the international community of yogis known as Inner Power Yoga. I also teach at the Soul Artist Academy, where I help fellow yoga teachers delve into yoga philosophy as it applies to physical practice, meditation, and self-study.
